Directional Boring and Utility Trenching in Cathedral City

Scope of Work Description:

For this project in Cathedral City, Devco provided comprehensive underground utility services, ensuring efficiency, safety, and precision throughout the job. The scope of work included:

Utility Delineation

• USA Dig Alert: Devco secured and maintained a valid USA dig alert ticket to locate public underground utilities on the property.
• Private Utility Locator: A private locator was utilized to identify existing utilities that could intersect the directional bore path.

Utility Verification via Potholing

• Potholing Operations: Devco performed potholing using the 8” core method to confirm the location of underground utilities that intersected or ran parallel to the directional bore paths.
• Backfilling and Restoration: Potholes were backfilled with utility sand or a 50/50 mix, compacted, and restored with asphalt sealant for a smooth finish.

Excavation and Preparation

• Bore Pits: Devco excavated directional bore pits, stockpiling spoils on-site for use in backfilling.
• Trenching: Trenching was performed for areas that could not be directionally bored, including radii and turns. Spoils from trenching were also stockpiled for backfill.

Directional Boring

• Boring Operations: Devco executed directional boring at 10 specified locations, installing approximately 2,100 feet of Schedule 40 PVC conduit (1”, 1.25”, or 1.5”).
• Fluid Management: All directional boring fluid was hauled off and disposed of responsibly.

Bollard and Pad Installation

• Installed 6” galvanized steel bollards at 35 locations, each with a concrete cap.
• Constructed concrete pads in varying dimensions:
  • (1) 10’x12’x9”
  • (1) 6’x14’x6”
  • (8) 4’x6’x6”
  • (53) 2’x3’x6”

Restoration

• Bore pits and trenches were backfilled and compacted with native soil.
• All trenches and removed asphalt or concrete were restored to trench width only, ensuring minimal disruption to the site.
