Project Overview
Devco Development & Engineering is delivering full-scope underground utility work in San Diego, combining
directional boring, directional drilling, utility trenching, and precise restoration. Our approach minimizes
surface disruption while meeting schedule and quality requirements.
Bore Pit Excavation & Preparation
- Excavate approximately ten (10) bore pits for directional boring operations.
- Saw-cut approximately ten (10) bore pits to establish clean, safe excavation limits.
- Saw-cut approximately five (5) handhole locations.
- Excavate and place five (5) customer-supplied handholes per plans and specifications.
- Provide steel plates for excavations outside the fencing and plywood covers for trenches inside the fencing.
Spoils Management & Backfilling
Devco will provide trucking and haul-off of excess spoils not reused for backfill. Native backfill will be placed and compacted to
95% as specified; geotechnical compaction testing to be performed by others.
Directional Boring & Conduit Installation
Our directional drilling crews will install customer-supplied Schedule 40 PVC conduits via trenchless methods to reduce surface impact:
Scope Segment A
- 90 LF of (1) 2″ Schedule 40 PVC
- 70 LF of (3) 1.5″ Schedule 40 PVC
Scope Segment B
- 54 LF of (4) 4″, (5) 2″, (1) 3.5″, (3) 1.5″, (1) 1.25″ Schedule 40 PVC
- 445 LF of (4) 4″, (4) 2″, (1) 3.5″, (2) 1.5″, (1) 1.25″ Schedule 40 PVC
- 85 LF of (1) 2″ Schedule 40 PVC
Following installation, Devco will blow ¾” mule tape through each newly installed conduit to confirm clear pathways for future cable pulls.
Pavement Restoration
Devco will base pave, grind and cap, and repave approximately ten (10) bore pit locations, as well as all 1’×1’ pothole locations generated during boring. This ensures a durable, smooth finish and compliance with local restoration requirements.
